Who to contact
Once a death is referred to the coroner, it will be allocated to a coroner’s officer. The officer will be in contact with the next of kin, whose details should have been passed to the coroner’s officer at the point of referral.
The court requests, wherever possible, that a bereaved family designates a next of kin to represent the family. The coroner’s officer would then speak to that person and communicate with the family through him or her.
